The Problem:

Complaints were flooding into the service center about the MRCGO Mobile Website being difficult to use.

Interviews began to expose a number of pain points and blockers users were experiencing.

  • The mobile version was not responsive and took an excessive amount of time to load.
  • The mobile version was difficult for users to navigate on mobile devices and tablets.
  • The mobile connection would drop off in remote locations while waiting on data to be downloaded
  • The mobile version was directly responsible for the loss of sales from customers attempting to order products in remote locations

 

 

 

 

Insights from Users

  • Pipe is the most difficult product to purchase on mobile, there are too many steps and too many options

 

 

 

 

The Wireframes were tested in User Surveys and 1:1 Interviews with 25 MRCGO Customers.

  • Labels needed to be added to the menu icons
  • A Filter screen to limit the number of clicks needed to accomplish the task.
  • The ability to search for a specific item by the product number
  • Minimize the clicks needed to complete a purchase, if possible

 

 

 

 

 

Additional updates and enhancements were implemented after each user testing

The Results

  • Simplified the process for purchasing pipe online. the user can now purchase their item with just 7 clicks, originally it took 17 clicks
  • All 20 users were able to accomplish all tasks
  • The new e-commerce process flow is to be implemented into all of the product categories on the website
